Tradition

How do we interpret the Bible?

When we say tradition, we mean a living tradition, not a dead traditionalism. We mean the Spirit-guided life of God’s people throughout history. The Holy Spirit inspired the authors of Scripture and the same Spirit indwells the believing and baptized community, therefore that community, and its history of interpretation, is how we understand the meaning of Scripture.

Within the ongoing life of God's people we give a place of prominence to the lives and writings of the Saints; those whose lives were marked by heroic sanctity, who embodied the Word of God and so became the best interpreters of the word of God.

Q: How do we understand the meaning of the Bible?

A: We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church in the true interpretation of the Scriptures.
