Tradition

How do we interpret the Bible?

When we say tradition, we mean a living tradition, not a dead traditionalism. We mean the Spirit-guided life of God’s people throughout history. The Holy Spirit inspired the authors of Scripture and indwells the believing and baptized community, therefore that community, and its history of interpretation, is how we understand the meaning of Scripture.

"The ongoing life of God’s People is called Holy Tradition."

Q: How do we understand the meaning of the Bible?

A: We understand the meaning of the Bible by the help of the Holy Spirit, who guides the Church in the true interpretation of the Scriptures.
